Agilent was spun off from Hewlett Packard in 1999. Agilent is a leading provider of communications, electronics, and life science devices and solutions. The company's 20,000 products are used in more than 120 countries. the challenge -Agilent Technoligies needed a human resources decision support application to optimize their human capital following the spin-off of Agilent Technologies from Hewlett Packard (HP) in 1999. Agilent Technologies' HR team wanted to deploy a solution which would give all managers a self-service capability, so that they could better assess compensation equity among their staff, identify training needs, and move quickly from top-level performance summaries for their areas of responsibility down to the details on the individuals who were the main influencers. the solution - b-i had already been at moving forward with the development of an HR centric decision support product called Central|HR, which allowed us to respond quickly to Agilent Technologies' needs. Furthermore, Central|HR's flexibility and rapid application development capabilities mean that we were able to implemented an enhanced HR application for both Agilent Technologies and HP. Some of these enhancements include more powerful multi-dimensional analysis, graphs, improved usability, and a sophisticated adaptive algorithm for "self-tuning" performance so that reports run faster the more they are used. clear return on investment - b-i began rolling out Central|HR at Agilent Technologies in May of 2002. Within 90 days, the system was managing HR data for all of Agilent Technologies' nearly 40,000 employees. Agilent Technologies has found that over 65% of their executives and officers are actively using the system, in addition to over 1,000 other users. Agilent Technologies has found that the ability for executives to service themselves and manage their workforce has dramatically improved. CentralHR results speak for themselves, having contributed to HP and Agilent's HR success over the past 4 years, in which both corporations were consistently awarded HR Innovation and Excellence awards.
