Based in Switzerland, UBS is one of the world's largest diversified financial services firms, with operations in 50 countries. UBS services include consumer and corporate banking, finance, and investment services.

needs analysis - UBS wanted to create a new, engaging portal to support online trading and educate prospective customers about UBS services. The portal also needed to include a Pan-European private banking sub-site.

user experience development - Give the complexity of the overall portal, b-i user experience designers were challenged to fully understand the user requirements and potential usage models. Through careful profiling, analysis, and modeling, our user experience designers developed clear concise specifications, an information architecture, and page schematics that supported a wide range of features, functionality, and user profiles.

brand development - b-i art directors and creative designers collaborated with UBS to produce online brand representations for the portal, including accompanying online branding guidelines. We also developed offline brand guidelines for new brands that were launched with the portal.

creative design - Our creative designers needed to follow exhaustive UBS style and branding guidelines, yet we were still able to develop unique, engaging designs for the overall portal and its various templates.

content development - Our content developers produced hundreds of pages of content for the new portal, ranging from marketing communications material to online help for the online banking applications. Our content developers also produced online style guides and editorial guides.

application development - b-i template engineers produced a wide variety of dynamic interface templates, written in Java Server Pages (JSP). Working closely with one of the former "Big-5" services firms, our software engineers and systems analysts developed an extensible n-tier banking portal, that integrated products from BroadVision, Olympic, and IBM. b-i's engineers and database developers were primarily focused on developing the personalized, secure WebSphere- and BroadVision-based applications, which were then integrated with the UBS' back-end banking systems by the Big-5 vendor. The system was rigorously tested in a cooperative fashion that included b-i quality assurance engineers, UBS IT, and a 3rd-party auditor.
