As the main advocate for global action on HIV/AIDS, UNAIDS seeks to prevent the transmission of HIV, provide care and support, and reduce the vulnerability of individuals and communities to HIV/AIDS. UNAIDS has achieved consistent success in alleviating the impact of the worldwide epidemic. UNAIDS is a long-term b-i partner, for whom we have completed a wide variety of projects.
it strategy - The UNAIDS secretariat wanted to implement a new integrated IT strategy that would allow it to capitalize on its existing investments, support its mission statement, and grow with future technologies. The existing UNAIDS IT infrastructure was composed of poorly-integrated systems with high maintenance and support overhead. b-i solution architects worked with UNAIDS management to develop a long-term IT roadmap. Our roadmap provided a clear plan for building out UNAIDS' IT infrastructure, comprising implementation schedules, product selections, and budget estimates for a wide range of platforms and services. Our roadmap was both strategic and also tactical, in that we provided considerable practical detail regarding the actual implementation of specific systems and subsystems. This IT strategy blueprint became the basis for several years of major IT projects for UNAIDS.
contact management system - b-i systems analysts and software engineers built a custom application that consolidated UNAIDS' thousands of widely-distributed, multiple-format contact and email distribution lists. Our technical staff used various Microsoft Exchange software developer kits (SDKs) and custom coding to integrate the distributed contact lists in a single repository.
contract management system - Our team also developed a custom Web application that supports
the storage, search, and management of legal contracts, including rich reporting
functionality. As with all of the solutions that b-i developed for UNAIDS,
the system is tightly integrated with various Windows server products, and
accessible through any Web browser.
content development - As a basis for all future UNAIDS content/document management projects, b-i content developers built a Content Taxonomy that modeled and formalized the vast array of content and information types handled by the organization. This Taxonomy allowed our technical staff to employ a common model in the management, storage, transport, and presentation of information throughout the various systems that we developed for UNAIDS, such as content and document management systems.
document management systems - b-i delivered two
specialized document management systems that provide document access control,
search, audit trail, and additional features. One system supports general
user document management needs, and the second system is highly-tailored
to manage documents related to one of UNAIDS' specific programmes.
web site redesign - Our creative designers completely
redesigned the new Web portal, delivering greatly improved navigation, performance,
and ease-of-maintenance. |
